Since 2023, Bobbie has been writing for Cultural Survival Quarterly (Magazine/Online) with a specific focus on Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities and the impacts of transition metal mining on these communities. Transition metals include lithium, copper, cobalt and nickel and they are minerals that are critical for today’s technology, ranging from smart phones to electric vehicles. Bobbie’s recent work has focused on Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities in Australia, Bolivia, Chile, Panama and the US who are on the frontlines of climate change, transition metal extraction and tourism.
